Hey Concord, show us your lights (in photo form, we mean)
It's that time of year, readers: holiday decoration time! And we want to see the best Concord has to offer. Snap a few photos of your decorations (or your neighbor's, if they're better) and email them to us at news@theconcordinsider.com!
Classic Concord photo – Tue, 09 Dec 2014
We wonder if the members of the Concord Fire Department are as good at standing in a perfectly straight line today as they were in 1894, when this photo of the Fireman’s Parade was taken. Yes, those are steam engines in the background, as noted by reader Earl Burroughs, who submitted the photo. And yes, those are super awesome hats the firemen are wearing.
Instagram photo of the week – Tue, 09 Dec 2014
Here’s a recap of the pre-Thanksgiving snow storm in a photo from Instagram user @boudreaujr – some holly berries (not to be confused with the more popular Halle Berrys). We figured we’d use this picture instead of ours, which was just going to be us giving an extended middle finger to the sky.
Times of our lives – Tue, 09 Dec 2014
Karen Collins Riendeau, Sandi Collins Duval, Heather Duval and Kacie Riendeau brought the Insider on a girls weekend to New York City. We’ve always wanted to go on one of those! Here’s everyone in Times Square.
It’s never too early to get the newest Insider hooked on Christmas
Sophie, Tim’s 3-month-old daughter, was introduced to the art of Christmas tree decorating this weekend.

This lucky elf’s shelf is all of Concord
The Elf on the Shelf is a phenomenon the world hasn’t seen the likes of since the Concord Insider (wait, that’s us!). And the craze has officially come to Concord. We took our little buddy out on the town, but we want to see what you can do with one. Send us photos of the coolest places your elf winds up – in your house or anywhere in Concord – by emailing us at news@theconcordinsider.com, and we’ll put them in an upcoming issue of...

Head to Cobblestone to gobble up the best Christmas baubles this year
If you haven’t been to Cobblestone Design Company recently, you sure are missing out on one serious winter wonderland. Beginning in October, the store on Fort Eddy Road is transformed into all things Christmas. We’re talking snowmen (fake of course), trees (also fake) and wreaths (some of which are actually real). So if you’re in need of some new Christmassy stuff, Cobblestone will probably have something to fill your holiday...
Sue Chandler turns Tim into an official gingerbread house expert
Or at least a guy who can make one house
We've got just the thing to make your door pop this holiday season
And it happens to rhyme with smeath!

We’ve got just the thing to make your door pop this holiday season
So we drove by your house the other day and were a little disappointed. No, we’re not talking about your leaf/snow pile that looks like the result of an epic weather battle between fall and winter, but rather the open space on your front door. Sure your door is nice and goes well with the shutters, but don’t you feel that something’s missing? It is the holiday season, after all, and nothing says this house is bursting with Christmas...

Bishop Brady, Concord High get big checks for musical instruments
During most school assemblies, Bishop Brady music director Jason Lane sits quietly and listens. That’s because he’s never usually asked to do much of anything. But last Monday’s school-wide meeting took a turn Lane never expected. Marshall Crane, a 1998 graduate of Brady, was there speaking about the Frank Monahan Foundation when all of a sudden he asked Lane to join him on the floor named for the late Bishop Brady basketball coach....

Sue Chandler turns Tim into an official gingerbread house expert
I always thought that eating lots of candy was the best part about making a gingerbread house. Boy was I wrong. Sure, candy is delicious – and if it’s fruit flavored, it might even be considered nutritious – but it turns out that when everyone who sees your final design tells you how great it looks is the most rewarding part of the holiday activity – and it doesn’t leave you with a stomach ache. Some of the accolades seemed to come...
City Briefly
Each week, City Manager Tom Aspell gets in the holiday spirit by playing a game of one-on-one with former Temple basketball star Dionte Christmas. Aspell loses 15 consecutive games, but his errant shot chart spells out a city memo, so really everybody wins.Ringing in the holidays Phone calls galoreThe Thanksgiving Eve snow storm kept Concord fire crews busy, Aspell writes. The department answered 112 calls for service between noon on...
