Celebrate culture, learn about art and stuff your face at Mill Brook
Can you think of a better way to spend the second Wednesday evening of every month than by learning a little something about art while enjoying a nice snack? We didn’t think so. And you can do it right here in Concord when you get off the couch and check out Wednesday’s Wisdom Pot Luck at the Mill Brook Gallery, co-sponsored by the Kimball-Jenkins Community Art School. The program entails a guest (usually someone related to art in...
It’s back to school time, yo
The start of another school year is probably not exactly the time of year that most kids look forward to. Don’t get us wrong, education is an important part of growing up, but we can all remember the sadness that resulted as we watched summer drift away and classes once again consume a good chunk of our awake time. And it can be even more challenging and anxiety provoking when you’re either moving from elementary to middle school or...
Ready to Learn Fair gives students the tools for a successful start
Back-to-school season is officially in full swing. Parents and students have no doubt been busy shopping for notebooks, pens, pencils, backpacks, three-ring binders and sweet Lisa Frank folders, as well as getting stylish haircuts and routine checkups. But for some families, going back to school means, well, just going back to school. No shopping. No haircuts. No checkups. Caroline Keane, a paraprofessional at Concord High School,...

After a slight hiatus, we’ve decided to make a grand return
We know that every Tuesday is kind of a big deal for you.Not just because of $2 tacos, although we do really love our pork and chicken creations quite a bit, but because it’s when the latest edition of the Insider is ready for public consumption. And we now realize that excludes some of you because if you aren’t a subscriber to the Monitor in Concord or until very recently, Bow, you won’t be able to get it till Wednesday. But you know...

‘Love Your Neighbor’ event at Keach Park
New American Africans would like to invite you to a community celebration. The “Love Your Neighbor” event will be held Sept. 5 at Keach Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is a great event that we use to welcome newcomers to the Concord area. Want to know why Bow is so beautiful? Meet the Bow Garden Club
If you’ve ever taken a leisurely drive through the town of Bow, there’s a good chance you’ve seen some of the Bow Garden Club’s handiwork. At the gazebo, they’ve planted pink roses and yellow daylilies in memory of founding member, Tempie Dahlgren, and keep the flower boxes looking bright and beautiful. Rotary Park is another one of their stomping grounds that gets weekly attention during the spring/summer. They also help out at the...

Bow Elementary School sure does put on a good open house
With the school year set to begin and the “Insider” just getting to know the ins and outs of Bow, we decided it might be a good idea to check out the school we’d most likely fit into, Bow Elementary School. What? We may write at a professionalish level, but our math and science skills are hovering around a second- to third-grade level. So with less than a week before the start of another school year, BES held an open house for parents...

When everyone pitches in, the Audi comes out looking like new
Each seat in the Concord City Auditorium, all 850 of them, was cleaned last week. The windows were washed, as were the floors, and the dressing rooms are now free of cobwebs and dust. Some stood on ladders with rags, while others got down on their hands and knees with a bucket of soapy water. And it was all done to help spruce up the Audi for another season – the 111th to be exact. Every year for three days, volunteers pick a shift...
