Before there were monster trucks like Grave Digger, there were giant-wheeled carts to move coal around. Concord’s own Jim Kinhan recently trudged the nearly-100 mile stretch of Hadrian’s Wall Path that runs from Newcastle to Bowness in the northern countryside of England, and as you can see in this photo, the Insider did, too. Apparently baseball players used to be assigned uniforms based on what the coach guessed their future profession would be (what, no journalists?) These future doctors, dentists, lawyers and medics made up the Concord entry in the first New England Babe Ruth Regional Series at Rollins Park. So how’d they do? Is it us, or does this photo of the Audi before a performance of Hotel La Putts by Instagram user @zshea have something of a European street feel to it? (It’s usually just us). On May 5, The Concord Trust for the Enhancement of Public Education awarded over $18,000 to Concord Public School educators at its 16th Annual Grant Awards Ceremony, held at the Mill Brook School. Last week we went artifact hunting with the Division of Historic Resources at the archaeological field school set up where the Margaret Pillsbury General Hospital once stood. It appears Henry, the beloved dog on staff at McGowan Fine Art, has let his new celebrity (he WAS featured as a business dog of Concord in the Insider, after all) go to his adorable, furry little head. He apparently locked Sarah and Amanda up in the closet and tried to run the gallery himself this week. How do we know? We bought a Picasso original for two broken dog treats and a belly rub. Score!

Lending credence to the notion that each week’s copy of the Insider is truly on fire, it turns out paper is flammable. At least we’re presuming that’s what caused this fire at the Rumford Press on North Main Street on June 23, 1921. Of course, it could have been an electric fire started when all the employees’ laptop batteries got too hot, but we’d only be speculating on that one.
