International student at NHTI
NHTI has students from more than 50 foreign nations. Every April, Wings of Knowledge invites one of them to speak about their homeland, and their journey to America.
On Tuesday, April 2 at 6 p.m., join us as Human Service student Chekeri Byimanikora shares the wonders and beauties of her homeland, Rwanda. Known as Igihugu cy’I misozi Igihumbi, or Land of a Thousand Hills, Rwanda is rich in natural beauty. Come discover this amazing country, its people, its culture, its geography from a woman who will always have this special place close to her heart.

Newly bereaved discussion group
Concord Regional VNA is offering a Newly Bereaved Discussion Group on Tuesday, April 2, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Concord Regional VNA Hospice House, 240 Pleasant St. Groups are held on the first Tuesday of each month at the same time.

Multicultural Day at NHTI
Did you know that NHTI, has students who come from more than 50 countries? That is more than enough reason to celebrate and share the community’s rich diversity at the 19th Annual Multicultural Day on Tuesday, April 2, from noon to 2 p.m. in the Wellness Center. Admission is free and the public is invited.
Members of the NHTI family have displays of their countries’ cultures through objects, clothing, art, photos and food. The event also includes dance, music and a fashion show with traditional clothing from around the world. The event is sponsored by the school’s Cultural Exchange Club, the Cross-Cultural & ESOL office and the Student Senate.

First Sunday Jazz Jam
Jazz Sanctuary will sponsor a family-friendly First Sunday Jazz Jam every month at Concord’s First Congregational Church (177 N. Main St., corner of North Main and Washington streets) beginning Sunday at 5 p.m. There is no admission fee (there will be a voluntary donation basket for the house musicians), and jazz musicians (instrumentalists and vocalists) of all ages and proficiency levels are invited to bring their instruments and play with The Jazz Sanctuary House Band. Listeners are also welcome. Microphones, keyboard, drums, guitar amp, bass amp and music stands will be provided. There will be pizza and soft drinks available for purchase.

St. Paul’s School faculty show
St. Paul’s School fine arts faculty members cultivate a community of creation by practicing their art while teaching it. The annual faculty show tradition resumes in the new gallery after a four-year hiatus and will include paintings, drawings, ceramics, photography, prints and glass by Colin Callahan, Brian Schroyer, Rebecca Soderberg, Leigh Kaulbach, Nanda Soderberg, Gabriel Avis and Charles Lemay.
The public is invited to view this show Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.
The exhibit is at the Crumpacker Gallery, 11 Halcyon Place, and runs April 4 through June 1.

Leadership group taking applications
Leadership Greater Concord, a 10-month program offered by the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce, seeks applicants committed to the Capital region and interested in future nonprofit, community and/or town/city service.
Individuals selected for Leadership Greater Concord will enhance their civic knowledge of the area by gaining exposure to the issues, opportunities and challenges facing New Hampshire’s state capital and surrounding communities. Participants start with an overnight retreat in September and continue with a series of monthly, daylong sessions from September to May focused on a particular aspect of Greater Concord: History, Culture and the Arts, Livable Communities and Smart Growth, Environment and Sustainability, Criminal Justice, Communications and the Media, Government and Politics, Health and Human Services, Education, as well as Reflections and Moving Forward. The program concludes with graduation at the Chamber’s Pinnacle Awards Luncheon in June.
“Leadership Greater Concord provides the necessary skills, tools and connections people need to get more involved in their communities,” said Tim Sink, Chamber president. “It is the who, what, where and why of Greater Concord.”

Apply for Zonta Club scholarships
Applications for the 2019 Zonta International Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarships are now available from the Zonta Club of Concord, a local chapter of Zonta International. Any New Hampshire woman undertaking a business and/or business-related program leading to a business management career at an accredited university/college/institute, is in at least the second year of an undergraduate program through the final year of a master’s program at the time the application is submitted, is eligible to apply. The application and additional eligibility requirements are available through the Zonta International website, zonta.org, or by emailing Janice Severance at concordzontajmk@gmail.com. The recipient of Concord’s $1,000 award will be eligible to compete at the Zonta District 1 level for an additional $1,000 award. The successful Zonta District 1 recipient will be qualified to compete for one of 12 international scholarships in the amount of $7,000 each.
