Join us for a delicious chicken BBQ dinner at East Church, 51 Mountain Road, on Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. Enjoy grilled chicken, homemade baked beans, coleslaw, rolls, potato salad, corn muffins and a dessert buffet. Coffee and cold drinks included.
Adults are $10, ages 6 to 12 are $5, and 5 and under are free. Takeout is available. Tickets will be on sale for a beautiful handcrafted quilt, to be drawn at the supper.

Final two city pools to open Sunday
The two remaining city pools will open for public swim on Sunday.
The Concord Parks & Rec Department had a late rush in applications this year. While all of the positions have been filled, some employees are completing the necessary certification later in the month.
The pools at Garrison and Merrill parks are the last of the city’s seven pools to open. Pools at Rollins, White, Rolfe, Kimball and Keach parks opened on June 16.
Hours for the Garrison and Merrill pools are Monday through Friday, 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., and 6 to 7:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Music School summer camps
Does a student you know have a constant swing in their step and a song in their heart? Encourage their passion with a week of musical summer fun at Concord Community Music School.
The Music School’s talented and experienced instructors will lead campers in an engaging week of music, with state-of-the-art equipment for the Jam Camp jammers, plus fabulous indoor and outdoor space for Creative Arts Campers to play (music) and play (play!). Plus – a new drop-in Music & Movement session runs through July 10.
Summer Jam Camp will be held July 9-13, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for grades 5 to 12. Cost is $235 per camper.
Creative Arts Camp has two weeks open, July 16-20 and July 23-27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with before- and after-care available for grades 1 through 6. Cost is $270 per week/per camper.
And Music & Movement is Tuesdays through July 10 with a $15 drop-in fee.

Grief discussion group next Tuesday
Concord Regional VNA is offering a Newly Bereaved Discussion Group on July 3 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Concord Regional VNA Hospice House, 240 Pleasant St. Groups are held on the first Tuesday of each month at the same time.

Local author at Gibson’s Thursday
On Thursday, Pembroke’s own Erin Callahan presents her sparkling new Young Adult debut novel, The Art of Escaping! at Gibson’s Bookstore at 5:30 p.m.
On July 10 at 5:30 p.m., Gibson’s Bookstore will host the bestselling author of the classic book on ADD, Driven to Distraction, Dr. Edward M. Hallowell and his new memoir of the strange upbringing that shaped his celebrated career, Because I Come From a Crazy Family: The Making of a Psychiatrist.

Parking changes starting Sunday
Starting Sunday, parking rates are changing for those who use metered spaces in the city.
According to last week’s City Manager’s Newsletter, hours of enforcement for on-street and parking lots will now be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. for parking garages Monday through Friday.
Meter rates will change to $1 per hour for on-street parking and 50 cents per hour for parking garages and parking lots.
Metered parking for on-street have increased to three-hour and 10-hour limits depending on location.
Expired meter tickets will now be $15.
