It’s no secret that to a lot of foreign countries in the world, American cuisine is known for it’s greasy, deep-fried goodness. And what’s more American than taking vegetables out of a traditional dishing and adding in more greasy, deep-fried goodness? Not much. So that’s exactly what they did for the new appetizer on the menu at TGI Fridays, and you know we had to try it.
The new Philly Cheese Steak Egg Rolls at the chain restaurant on the Concord Heights take the typical egg roll to a whole new level.
The first bite into the crispy outer layering will instantly satisfy, and from there the experience just gets better.
The eggs rolls are filled with the traditional ingredients of the famous steak-and-cheese-filled sandwich originating in Philadelphia, all wrapped up into the deep-fried flour shell.
And the restaurant makes sure not to spare on the cheese serving. This is the type of cheesy dish that’s so gooey, a string of cheese may form from your teeth to the half-eaten roll in your hand if you snack too fast.
The rest of the crispy roll is filled with savory roast beef, red and green peppers and onions. On the side, the appetizer comes with a warm, heaping dish of craft beer-cheese dipping sauce.
When we heard the flavor of the dipping sauce, we realized we were feeling a little parched from the salty flavor, so we grabbed a Sam Adams Rebel IPA on draft from the bar, which paired nicely with the rolls.
