The Concord Public Library is at it again. They’ve gone and set up another full week of educational entertainment for the whole family.
Apart from the Science of Sap event (see page 21), there’s a trio of non-sap items on the library’s agenda, too.
Here they are, listed chronologically:
- Concord Reads Hounds & Hikes Film Festival presents Marley & Me, Thursday, 5:30 to 8 p.m.
This is the second film in Concord Reads Hounds & Hikes Film Festival. A family learns important life lessons from their adorable, but naughty and neurotic dog. Runtime is 1 hour 55 minutes. Rated PG.
The film will be shown in the auditorium. Snacks will be provided!
- Eggstravaganza, Friday, 2 to 4 p.m.
Did you miss last year’s STEAM program on egg science? Not to fear! We are bringing back some egg-cellent fun at your library. Get ready to drop, crack, smash, de-shell and oggle! Tables will remain set up for egg decorating (whatever is left!) afterward. We’ll even teach some great techniques for preserving them.
This is an outdoor activity. The inclement weather backup date will be March 21 at 4 p.m. Registration is required so library staff can get an idea of how much supplies to prepare, but the event is free. Go to concordpubliclibrary.net or call 225-8670, ext. 3, to register.
- Tales from the Home of the World’s Worst Weather with the Mount Washington Observatory, next Tuesday (March 20), 6 to 8 p.m.
Bitter cold, dense fog, heavy snow and record winds: Mount Washington is known worldwide for its unpredictable and dangerous weather. For a mountain its size, why is Mount Washington called the “Home of the World’s Worst Weather?” Join Mount Washington Observatory’s Will Broussard for an investigation into the unique life and work of weather observers stationed at the observatory year-round.
We will explore how the mountain’s weather works and what it can tell us about New England’s own weather patterns. This program will include interactive demonstrations, weather instruments, stunning photography and video footage from the summit. This exciting program is appropriate for adults and children alike.
The program will be held in the auditorium.
