Fans of history, politics or just New Hampshire in general, take notice – guided tours are about to return to the State House.
This Saturday, the following Saturday (Oct. 14) and Dec. 9, the historic State House in downtown Concord will open its doors to visitors for limited weekend tours. Complimentary guided tours will depart from the State House Visitors’ Center every half hour from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Brimming with history, art and fascinating stories, the State House is the oldest state capitol building in the United States where the legislature still meets in its original chambers, making it both a working museum and cultural treasure. Tour highlights include the Hall of Flags, Representatives Hall, Senate Chambers and more. Visitors are also welcome to explore the grounds and the State House Visitors’ Center Gift Shop.
The Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce – which funds the guided tours – wishes to extend special thanks to the House and Senate Chiefs of Staff and the State House Visitors’ Center staff for supporting these tours.
And in case you didn’t already know, the State House is open for self-guided tours all the time – just show up during business hours (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and ask for a pamphlet to help guide you around.
