Chinese Cooking for Diamond Thieves
Dave Lowry
2014, 278 pages
Fiction
Tucker is driving through northern New Hampshire when he meets the beautiful and mysterious Corinne Chang at a rest stop. He is instantly smitten, and determined to help her. After a short road trip they part ways. Tucker travels to St. Louis to stay with his friend Langston and work as a dishwasher in a Chinese restaurant. He quickly works his way up to a chef position there. But soon Corinne needs help and Tucker, who knows Mandarin and practices martial arts, comes to her rescue.
Tucker is an interesting hero – young, funny and confident in his skills. He has a lot of rules for life, and there’s a rule at the start of each chapter. He reminds me a little of Robert Parker’s Spenser.
Diamonds might be a girl’s best friend. But Tucker is the one you want beside you when mobsters come calling, looking for missing diamonds.
