As you’ve already seen, there is a ton going on at Market Days this year. But there’s even more.
Outside of the music, performances, food, games and good ol’ family fun, we found a few odds and ends that you may overlook when perusing around North and South Main.
Don’t worry though, that’s why we’re here. To make sure you have to do the least amount of thinking as possible.
Music, Movie & Poster Sale
The annual fundraiser for Concord’s independent theater will be held inside Red River all three days of Market Days from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
It’s a good place to start or add to your music collection. Stop in and browse through 50 years of music history, or purchase movie posters from the last 10 years.
On the music side of things, you can buy record albums for $1, 45s for 25 cents, CDs for $2 and cassettes for 50 cents. Sorry, no 8-tracks.
There will be DVDs for $3 and VHS tapes for 50 cents. Movie posters will be sold for $3. A few collectible items will be priced higher.
In conjunction with the sale, the pre-Woodstock concert film Monterey Pop will be shown in the theater Saturday only at 11 a.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Urban Art Battle
Beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, there will be a live art battle consisting of emerging artists creating unique pieces right in front of your eyes.
It’s a one-time-only, 90-minute performance so make sure you don’t miss out on it.
Zonta Club
The Zonta Club of Concord will be selling used books in front of Viking House during Market Days. All proceeds from books sales will benefit the Merrimack Valley Day Care’s building project.
The Zonta Club members will offer novels, Wild West books, collector’s books, self-help, children’s books, cooking, historical, coffee table books, and many more for sale.
Prices will range from 50 cents to $5. There will be many old, rare and signed first edition books along with some book collections.
Arts Market
The Concord Arts Market will once again be holding down the fort on Pleasant Street with lots of great crafty stuff to buy.
Never been? This is definitely a part of Market Days that you’ll want to check out then.
The market is open all three days from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. so there is plenty of time to look around and find that one-of-a-kind piece to remember your excursion.
Farmers Market
While this isn’t exclusive to Market Days, it sure does add a nice layer to the experience.
If you just can’t wait to get downtown Saturday morning, the farmers market opens at 8:30 a.m., so you can buy some locally grown foods or goods and make sure to be the first ones to kick-off day three.
Dunk Tank
Feel like making someone fall into a large amount of water? Well, the Marine Corps will have a booth at the corner of Park and North Main, complete with a dunk tank.
Depending on how hot it is, you might be asking for a quick spot in the chair.
Concord Coach
No big Concord event is complete without a Concord Coach.
Check out the classic ride that was built in the city in front of the Concord Food Co-op on South Main Street throughout the three-day festivities.
Ice Cream Contest
Granite State Candy will once again be hosting an ice cream eating contest on Friday at 1 p.m
Cost is $5 and proceeds benefit the Friendly Kitchen. There are five age categories and the winners will be determined based on who finishes a predetermined amount of ice cream first.
You must register before noon on Friday at Granite State Candy. All entrants will receive a coupon for a free scoop of ice cream.
Prizes include gift certificates, free ice cream, gift baskets and T-shirts.
