Another week, another full slate of live music in the capital city.
We know everyone loves taking in a good live show, so we scoured the interwebs once again to find as many shows in Concord as we could.
There would normally be a much bigger list, but several popular venues, particularly ones around Bicentennial Square, have sort of fallen behind with their listings (hint hint), so what you see here is what you get. Not to say that we didn’t find anything good, we just couldn’t come up with a ton of volume for you this week.
Nonetheless, here’s a little sampling of some of the live music you can hear in the upcoming week.
Tuesday
Since the Insider doesn’t make it to its newsstand locations until Wednesday, this Tuesday listing will only really apply to Monitor subscribers in Concord and Bow, who get the Insider with their Tuesday paper (maybe you should subscribe to the Monitor to get the Insider as soon as humanly possible).
Mike Walsh will play at Hermanos Cocina Mexicana starting at 6:30 p.m. Walsh will lay down some cool jazz while you enjoy some enchiladas and nachos – what’s not to like about that? Plus, there’s no cover charge, so you can save that cash for some margaritas.
Wednesday
If you can’t get enough jazz and Mexican food, head back to Hermanos to catch Jared Steer on Wednesday. Steer is a staple at Hermanos, so if you haven’t seen him yet, you should.
If you’re looking for a different atmosphere, check out Area 23, which will host open mic night. The music starts at 7, and as usual, there is no cover.
Tandy’s Top Shelf has already begun its popular singing competition, which comes to a head at Market Days. Check out the Tandy’s Rocks quarter finals from 7 to 11 p.m. There will be two rounds and lots of fun. For more info, email andrea03258@comcast.net.
SaturdayHead back to Area 23 on Saturday to catch Turnsoul. This group was a hit the last time they played at the Area, so they’re coming back for another go. The show will run from 8 to 11 p.m., and there’s no cover.
Sunday
Last but certainly not least, the gritty, blue-collar rock icon George Thorogood will rock the Capitol Center for the Arts on Sunday starting at 7:30 p.m.
You know all the hits – “Bad to the Bone,” “Who Do You Love?,” “Move it on Over,” “I Drink Alone,” “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer” – and now you can hear them live. Tickets are $44.50 to $64.50 and can be bought at ccanh.com.
