Panel discussion at League on Friday
Join the League of N.H. Craftsmen on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. for a panel discussion and reception featuring five exhibitors in the current exhibition, Pushing the Limits.
Larry Elbroch, Victoria Elbroch, Lynn Haust, Louis Pulzetti and Maureen Redman-Scura will talk and answer questions about: “Why am I a craftsman?” or “Why did I decide to become a craftsman? Why is it important? Why did I make this piece? Why is it a challenge?”
Light refreshments will be served as you view the exhibition and talk to the craftsmen following the panel discussion.

VNA hosting event to honor fathers
Concord Regional VNA is offering “Remembering Our Fathers” on June 13 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Concord Regional VNA Hospice House, 240 Pleasant St.
As Fathers’s Day approaches, join us to support and encourage one another. Connect with others who are facing Father’s Day without their fathers and learn ways of coping with your loss.
We encourage you to bring along a photo of your father, as we set aside time to honor the memories of the fathers we have lost.

Concert at United Church of Penacook
The United Church of Penacook is hosting a concert with Nota Bene Viol Consort on Monday at 7 p.m. This viols quartet specializes in early music and is currently enjoying a residency at Brandeis University. The concert is free and open to the public. Nota Bene Viol Consort will be in residence at Avaloch Farm Music Institute (avalochfarmmusic.org) in Boscawen this summer.

Life check-up with AARP at Audubon
We all think about “what’s next” but often wonder where to start and how to make it real. That’s why AARP New Hampshire is offering a free Life Reimagined Check-Up on June 15 at 6 p.m. at the N.H. Audubon McLane Center, 84 Silk Farm Road.
The two-hour check-up is free and open to the public, but space in limited and registration is required at aarp.cvent.com/ConcordLR.
At the check-up, you start where you are in life and – through a series of fun, simple exercises – see where the possibilities lead you.

Take icon painting class on Saturdays
Master Iconographer, teacher and lecturer, Marina Forbes, will offer “The Art of Icon Painting” workshop on Saturdays, June 3, 10, 17 and July 8 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Grace Episcopal Church (30 Eastman St.)
It is a hands-on studio workshop for students interested in learning how to create traditional Russian icons, one of the world’s oldest and most respected forms of religious art. The program will include a detailed discussion and demonstration of traditional materials and methods of icon making. Then, under the direction of the instructor, students will create their own icons using a combination of traditional and contemporary materials and methods. Students will learn about board and painting surface preparation, gessoing, image rendering, pigments, brush strokes techniques, detailing, highlighting, gilding, Old Slavonic lettering and varnishing.
No painting experience is required for this class. Experienced artists will also feel very comfortable in the class.

Chamber hosting Pinnacle Awards
The Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce will host its 12th annual Pinnacle Awards Luncheon on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Courtyard Marriott Grappone Conference Center.
For more than a decade, the chamber has recognized outstanding businesses and individuals who have demonstrated professional excellence and commitment to the Greater Concord Chamber and the local community. This year’s recipients are: Arnie’s Place, Small Business of the Year; Merrimack County Savings Bank, Business of the Year; James P. Bouley, Mayor City of Concord, Business Leader of the Year; White Birch Center, Nonprofit Business of the Year; and Severino Trucking Company, Inc., Outstanding Performance of the Year.
We’ll also announce two closely-kept secrets: the recipients of the W. Grant McIntosh Volunteer of the Year and the Concord Young Professional of the Year. Final Bach’s lunch before summer
It’s a marvelous month for a moon dance at June’s free Bach’s Lunch programs at the Concord Community Music School.
Bach’s Lunch season winds up with two lyrical presentations by music school faculty members.
On Thursday, Hannah Murray (voice department chair) presents her lecture entitled “Hearing History: 100 Years of American Vocal Styles,” and on June 8, Peggo Horstmann Hodes (Songweavers) performs “Moon Songs.”
Bach’s Lunch programs are free and open to the public, and take place from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. on the first and second Thursdays of each month in the music school’s Recital Hall, 23 Wall St.

Concord Regional VNA is offering a bereavement program, Newly Bereaved Discussion Group on June 6 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Concord Regional VNA Hospice House, 240 Pleasant St. Groups are held on the first Tuesday of each month at the same time.
This session provides grief education and support for those who have experienced the recent loss of a loved one. Registration is not required.
