The Kiwanis Spring Fair is one of those Concord events that you can count on.
Like the Christmas parade and tree lighting, Market Days and Rock ‘N Race, each year you know it’s coming back.
So it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that this weekend, the 62nd annual Kiwanis fundraiser (one of the biggest ones for the organization each year) will take over the outside area adjacent to Everett Arena with a sea of carnival rides, games and food.
The fair runs from Thursday to Sunday, and let’s face it, you don’t want to be the one person in your group of friends to miss out.
There will be a Ferris wheel, and spinny things that could upset your stomach. Games where you can throw a ball or shoot a fake gun to try and knock something down for a prize.
We’re pretty sure, if you really put your mind to it, you’ll leave with one of those giant stuffed animals.
And don’t forget about the greasy goodness that is found at a fair like this. We’re talking fried dough, cotton candy, pizza and all kinds of food you love to eat but shouldn’t.
“It tastes so good, but it’s not good for you,” said Kiwanis member Ken Georgevits.
The fair runs Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m., Friday 5 to 11 p.m., Saturday from noon to 11 p.m. and Sunday is noon to 6 p.m.
That’s 28 hours of fair fun to be had. No wonder it comes back each year.
Admission to the fair is free, as is parking in the Everett Arena parking lot. Rides, games and food will cost you though, so don’t leave the wallet at home.
For $25, you can purchase a good for one-day unlimited rides wristband – or $20 with a coupon – that will give you all the fun you can handle on Thursday evening, Sunday during the day, and on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.
“That’s pretty much more than you’re body can handle,” said Georgevits.
And just to add to the excitement (if that’s possible) the Granite State Roller Derby All-Stars will take to the Everett Arena rink for a match-up with the Bay State Brawlers’ Punishers at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $10 online and can be purchased at granitestaterollerderby.com/ index.html, or $12 at the door.
Just think, you can go on a bunch of rides, eat a ton of food and then go watch some pretty tough ladies battle it out on the track. Sounds like a fun Saturday.
