Concord Regional VNA is offering “Remembering Our Mothers” on May 9 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Concord Regional VNA Hospice House, 240 Pleasant St.
As Mother’s Day approaches, join us to support and encourage one another. Connect with others who are facing Mother’s Day without their mothers and learn ways of coping with your loss. We encourage you to bring along a photo of your mother, as we set aside time to honor the memories of the mothers we have lost.

Art show, silent auction at NHTI
The families and staff of the Child and Family Development Center at NHTI invite you to the sixth annual art show and silent auction on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon in the NHTI library.
The event will feature exhibits, which celebrate the artist endeavors of infant, toddler, preschool and kindergarten children.
Proceeds will be used to purchase center-wide playground equipment.
The Child and Family Development Center offers child care for ages 6 weeks to 5 years and is located on the campus of NHTI. Child care is provided to faculty, staff, students and the community.

Open house, free yoga classes
Bikram Yoga Concord will hold an open house on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
There will be free hot yoga classes at 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and hot pilates classes at 7:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. There will also be sales on class packages.

Bach’s Lunch series jazz talk Thursday
Take a trip through the “wild worlds” of jazz music at May’s free Bach’s Lunch programs at the Concord Community Music School Recital Hall, 23 Wall St.
On Thursday, music school faculty member Matt Langley shares his vast musical knowledge of the “Wild Worlds of Jazz.”
Langley will discuss the effect of world cultures on jazz music in the last 30 years. Who are some of the artists leading the way? Find out – and check out some fantastic modern jazz with fellow music enthusiasts.
On May 11, a faculty jazz quartet presents and performs “Jazz Influences from Around the World.”
Bach’s Lunch programs are free and open to the public, and take place from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. on the first and second Thursdays of each month in Recital Hall.

N.H. Gay Men’s Chorus to perform
The New Hampshire Gay Men’s Chorus will give four performances of its spectacular 19th annual spring concert series, “New Love, Lost Love, Old Love, True Love,” in May.

Applications open for teacher grants
The Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce announces that applications for this year’s Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce Business Grants for Teachers are now being accepted.
Through the Business Grants for Teachers program, the chamber awards grants up to $1,000 to area teachers who have developed innovative teaching programs in capital-area schools.
Recipients must demonstrate that their projects fit a specific educational need, are unique to their respective schools and are not supported by the school system’s annual budget.
Funding for the Business Grants program is raised through the chamber’s annual Funds for Education Golf Tournament, which will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 2 at Beaver Meadow Golf Course.
The deadline for submission of the grant application is June 2.

GoodLife seeking sellers for yard sale
GoodLife Programs & Activities is hosting a two-day indoor yard sale, May 19-20, from 9 a.m. to 1p.m. at its Smokestack Center location (254 N. State St.)
Currently, GoodLife is looking for sellers. There are two ways to sell your stuff: You can purchase a table for $40 for two days or $30 for one day.
You can also donate items and let GoodLife keep the proceeds.

Bow Garden Club’s monthly meeting
Bow Garden Club is hosting its May meeting on Monday at the Old Town Hall (91 Bow Center Road).
This month’s meeting will include a presentation by Thelma Hewitt, member of the North American Rock Garden Society and head of their Fells Chapter.
Hewitt’s talk, entitled, “Easy Rock Gardens for Our Region” will include a beautiful and informational Power Point presentation on creating rock gardens on our properties.
