If you’re looking to rock out, mellow down or cut a rug, there’s plenty in store for you in Concord this weekend.
There always seems to be a full slate of live music in this city, and it’s no different this weekend.
Get a real early jump on the weekend by checking out Craig Jaster at Hermanos Cocina Mexicana on Wednesday, starting at 6:30 p.m. There’s never a cover charge to listen to music at Hermanos, so you can save all that cash for tacos and margaritas.
When you’re done with your meal, you might as well head over to Area 23 (assuming you haven’t had too much to drink, of course) to take in some Area Open Mic from 7 to 10 p.m. You never know what you might hear at the open mic, so it’s like a cool little surprise every time. Plus, if you’re feeling up to it, take the stage yourself – they have guitars, amps, drums, basses and anything you could possibly need to play music right there in the bar, so you don’t have to lug all your equipment around.
On Thursday, head back to Hermanos for round two – that’s right, Craig Jaster loves performing at the place so much he’ll be there two nights in a row. The show will still start at 6:30 p.m. and will still be presented without a cover charge.
When you finish up there, take a quick walk across Main Street over to Penuche’s, where Andy Laliotis and Matt Poirier will be rocking the joint. These local guys are seasoned veterans of the Concord music scene, so expect a solid showing from them. There will also be a small cover at the door to support these local artists.
On Friday night, check out the stylings of Andrew Merzi at True Brew Barista. We don’t know much about Merzi yet, but if he’s playing at True Brew, we figure he must be worth checking out. True Brew likes to support the artists who play there by charging a cover, so make sure you plan accordingly (it’s usually between 5 and 10 bucks).
If you’re in a different kind of mood on Friday, you could always try Pit Road Lounge, which will be hosting the band Shameless for the evening. There’s no shame in going to check out a new band.
And on Saturday, otherwise known as April Fools Day, go back to True Brew to hear Whiskey Kill bring the house down. There will also be a beer tasting with Concord microbrewery Lithermans Limited, so this is a special night you certainly won’t want to miss.
