If you’re a big hoops fan, then you’ll want to make your way to Bishop Brady this Sunday.
Five of the top 15 prep school teams in the country will play in the fourth annual Frank Monahan Foundation Basketball Showcase, along with a couple local squads.
In addition to four prep school matchups, the Bishop Brady and Pembroke Academy boys teams will play, giving fans the opportunity to see five games in one day – and for a very affordable price of admission.
It will cost an adult just $10 for the ability to watch all five games, and a mere $5 for kids. You can sit in the Bishop Brady gym for all five, or come and go as you please and just check out the games that interest you. One thing is for certain, there will be some pretty good basketball on display.
“It’s a fun day for people of all ages,” said Monahan Foundation President Marshall Crane. “To have five of the top 15 teams playing in Concord, N.H. is a little crazy.”
The first game starts at 11:30 a.m. and the last one tips off at 5:45 p.m. That means you can sit there for more than seven hours of high school hoops and see some future Division I college players in action. We told you it was a good deal.
“These are tomorrow’s basketball stars, who will be playing on ESPN,” Crane said.
The first game features Notre Dame Prep, No. 6 in the nation, and the MacDuffie School at 11:30 a.m.
The No. 4 prep team in the nation, Commonwealth Academy squares off with Lee Academy at 1 p.m.
The top prep school in the country, Brewster Academy plays Proctor Academy at 2:45 p.m. Bishop Brady and Pembroke take the court at 4:15 p.m.
“It’s nice to have two local teams playing,” Crane said.
And it seems as though the most exciting game of the day will be last, as No. 12 Putnam Science Academy and No. 13 New Hampton cap off the action at 5:45.
Tickets are available at the door, and there will also be great raffle prizes, including an autographed Julian Edelman photo.
All proceeds from the showcase benefit the James Ceriello.
“It helps pay for a Boys and Girls Club member go to Bishop Brady for four years, tuition free,” Crane said.
Now that’s definitely worth going for – and you get to see some great b-ball.
