Holiday pickleball tourney Dec. 23
Concord Parks and Recreation is hosting a Jingle Bell Pickleball Tournament on Dec. 23 at the Green Street Community Center from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The tournament is a mixed doubles, round robin format, and cost is $12 per team. There are 60-plus (9 a.m. to noon) and 50-plus (12:30 to 3:30 p.m.) age divisions. Registration deadline is Friday.
There will be a limit of 10 teams per age group. Members of each winning team will receive a 15 visit punch card.

Audubon hosting open house
Nature related books, gifts, toys and crafts will abound at N.H. Audubon’s annual holiday open house, used book sale and craft fair at the McLane Center on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A large collection of gently used field guides, nature travel resources, wildlife references, ecological essays and other nature related books will be available at the book sale. Birders, outdoor enthusiasts and even armchair nature fans will be able to stock up on winter reading opportunities and classic, hard to find resources from the N.H. Audubon library.
In addition, the Nature Store will be well stocked with holiday gift ideas. N.H. Audubon members will receive a 20 percent discount on all items in the store.
Local craft vendors will present items including photographs, herbal items, jewelry and more. Several vendors will be demonstrating their art as well.
Bring the kids! There will be hands-on craft activities and story time so children can have fun while adults are shopping. Of course, the live raptors and reptiles will be on display as well.

Craft fair at Bishop Brady on Saturday
Bishop Brady High School will host its 11th annual Christmas craft fair on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The fair features artisans, 50/50, raffles, a cookie walk, food and a Christmas shop for children 12 and under. Proceeds will support BBHS Habitat for Humanity.

Holiday concert at music school
Make your holiday season merry and bright with an evening of holiday music and folk favorites at the Concord Community Music School.
Folk duo Susie Burke and David Surette will join with Kent Allyn for a concert on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the music school’s Recital Hall.
The concert will feature a number of selections from the musicians’ holiday CD release, Wonderland, along with folk and acoustic fare from their standard repertoire.

Blue Christmas service Dec. 14
A Blue Christmas service will be held on Dec. 14 at the Bow Mills United Methodist Church, 505 South St., Bow.
This special service is for folks who know that this Christmas will be a difficult one, either because they have had a death in the family, a loss or broken relationship or because of painful memories of Christmases past.
Please join us at 7 p.m. for a time of special music, scripture, silent reflection and healing prayer. Light refreshments will be offered after the service.

Trails committee hosting hike
Need a nature break? Curious about Concord trails?
Join members of the Concord Trails Committee for a guided hike with great views along the Contoocook River Trails on Saturday at 10 a.m. Meet at the trailhead at the end of Electric Avenue in Penacook, and expect to be on the trails for an hour to an hour and a half.

Wednesday’s Wisdom pot luck
The next Wednesday’s Wisdom Pot Luck will be held Dec. 14, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the mansion at the Kimball-Jenkins Estate.

Festival of Lessons and Carols on Sunday
Join St. Paul’s School for one of its annual traditions, A Festival of Lessons and Carols, in the Chapel of St. Peter and St. Paul on Sunday at 5 p.m.
This year’s Festival of Lessons and Carols will include carols and congregational hymns.
The SPS Women’s Ensemble will sing A Ceremony Of Carols by Benjamin Britten beginning at 4:20 p.m.

Merrimack Valley Best Buddies is hosting a fundraiser at the McDonald’s at 11 Fisherville Road on Wednesday to help the club, which is designed to foster friendships for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
For every meal purchased between 5 to 7 p.m., 20 percent of your bill will go toward Best Buddies.
