Sixteen deserving students seeking a career in health care received scholarships through the Concord Hospital Trust Scholarship Fund at an awards luncheon at Concord Hospital on June 29.
Sara Akramy, Nicholas Angelone, Amber Caplette, Shania Clark, Rachel Demers, Jaret Foote, Kyle Haas, Jillian Kilar, Sandrine Ndetah, Emily Stevens, Madisyn Winters and Kiersten Wulff received nursing scholarships. In addition, four allied health awards were given to Shannon Nadeau, Hillary Perron, Madison Van Cleave and Kyle Menard.
The Concord Hospital Trust Scholarship Fund, part of the trust’s endowment, provided $35,066 in scholarship support. The fund comprises a number of scholarships originally established to support the Concord Hospital School of Nursing, which closed in 1989, together with more recently established scholarships.
The Concord Hospital Trust Scholarship Committee, a volunteer sub-committee of the trust’s Stewardship Committee and led this year by co-chair Alan Blake, received 33 applications. The applications were reviewed accordingly in a “blind” process – the committee members did not see the names of the applicants until the final weight was determined after reviewing all of the eligibility guidelines.
