Decatur Creek to play Hatbox

Community church supper Friday
Grace Episcopal Church will host its free monthly community supper on Friday, from 5 to 6 p.m.
Our May supper features a pot roast dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy, carrots and angel food cake for dessert. So come, bring your family and friends and take the night off from cooking.
There is no charge, but donations are welcomed and support our Take-A-Tote Ministry, which helps to feed Concord’s hungry school children.

Concord woman running for charity
Jessica Reynolds of Concord is participating in the 2016 Boston’s Run to Remember as part of the RUN to End Alzheimer’s team for the Alzheimer’s Association, MA/NH Chapter.
Taking place on May 29, Reynolds will join other team members to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s.
“I wanted to participate on this year’s team because this is the year my grandfather was diagnosed. My grandfather was the first runner in our family, a passion that now extends to four generations. It is because of him that we run today. What better way to help than with the passion he started and will ultimately leave us with,” Reynolds said.

Dying to Talk cafe next Wednesday
Concord Regional VNA’s monthly “Dying to Talk Cafe” focuses on “The Two Sides of Illness” on May 25 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at True Brew Barista in Gibson’s Bookstore, 45 S. Main St.
Monthly “Dying to Talk” Cafes give people the opportunity to breathe life into conversations about dying. Come and join experienced facilitators for coffee, tea and a relaxed, open-minded discussion about any number of topics related to the certainty of death. Each cafe is offered by Concord Regional VNA Hospice Program staff.
Cafes are free and pre-registration is not required.

Sinfully Sweet at St. Paul’s Church
International tunes, wicked desserts and a silent auction await attendees at Sinfully Sweet – Songs from Around the World on Saturday at 7 p.m. The evening, presented by St. Paul’s Church, will be hosted at Tad’s Place at Havenwood Heritage Heights, 149 Eastside Drive. Audience members will delight in musical offerings from the choir and musicians of St. Paul’s, as well as special guests.

NHTI to hold graduation Friday
At 10 a.m. on Friday, NHTI will hold its 66th annual Commencement Exercises on the lawn behind Little Hall (rain or shine). The college offers 88 associate degree, certificate and diploma programs to more than 7,000 students annually. However, only students in the 41 associate degree programs participate in commencement. This year, NHTI is awarding approximately 600 associate degrees.

Join Concord Hospital Trust for a mass “chic picnic” at a surprise location for Evening en Blanc on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 6 to 10 p.m.
Based on the popular Diner en Blanc, launched in Paris more than 25 years ago, this whimsical event returns for its fourth year. Dressed all in white, diners arrive with their own well-stocked picnic basket and enjoy an enchanted evening of dining, dancing and entertainment.
The surprise location of this flash mob feast with a French twist will be announced two hours before the event on Concord Hospital’s Facebook page, ConcordHospital.org, CH-Trust.org and via e-mail communications.

It’s public works week in Concord
Concord General Services is celebrating the American Public Works Association’s National Public Works Week this week, to promote the importance of public works services. The city of Concord’s public works services are performed by Concord General Services, which includes street maintenance, snow plowing, water treatment and distribution, wastewater treatment, trash services, public properties maintenance and equipment services.
Mayor Jim Bouley has signed a proclamation to declare May 15-21as this year’s Public Works Week for Concord.
General Services has also created a video for National Public Works Week.
