So while we were eating our Cinco de Mayo meal at Hermanos, thirst began to take over. Sure, water quenches thirst, but it’s not as fun – or tasty – as a nice margarita.
Hermanos, as you might imagine, has just tons of traditional Mexican drinks, so it was tough to pick just one for this feature. There were some specials going on, but what would be the point of telling you about something that will be gone forever by the time you read this?
After much hemming and hawing, the decision was made: It would be the Citrita margarita, one of Hermanos’ specialty margaritas.
This one is made with Skyy citrus vodka instead of the traditional tequila (some Insiders don’t really take to tequila very well). There’s also some house-made margarita mix and triple sec in there, and it’s served with a lime wedge.
The name of this drink is not misleading – this marg has a strong citrus taste. It tastes like (an alcoholic version of) a refreshing limeade on a hot summer’s day, and it goes down surprisingly easy.
After a few careful sips – the glass was filled to the brim – we wanted even more of a citrus punch. This is where the lime came in handy.
After squeezing as much juice out of the fruit as possible, into the drink it went. Whether or not Hermanos intends for the lime to be put into the drink, if you like citrus, doing so will only serve you well.
This tart, refreshing drink is perfect for any occasion, not just holidays, so head on over there and try one!
