If there’s one thing we like talking about here, it’s raptors. Whether we’re referring to the modern birds of prey or the prehistoric killing machines everyone fell in love with in Jurassic Park, we just can’t get enough.
If you’re as crazy about raptors as we are, you should check out a talk on raptor migration in New Hampshire at the Audubon McLane Center.
It gets going at 7 p.m., and donations will be accepted. For more information, call 224-9909.
Friday
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and what better way to enjoy this crucial part of the day than by talking some politics while eating?
Head over to the Holiday Inn from 8 to 9:30 a.m., where political intrigue, hidden agendas, outrageous controversies, key wins and painful losses from the first half of the 2016 session are all fair game for discussion at this Legislative Breakfast. Plus, Monitor staff writer Allie Morris will be one of the panelists, so you won’t want to miss it.
The cost is $35 for Business and Industry Association, Capitol Connect and Concord Chamber of Commerce members, $49 for nonmembers. Call 224-5388, ext. 101, for more info.
If all that political talk wears you out, why not relax and catch a movie? You can do that at NHTI, where the Film Society will show The Winding Stream (Not Rated) at 7 p.m. It’s all about the famous Carter family (as in June Carter, not Jimmy or Chris), and it’s full of rich details.
The film will be shown in the Sweeney Hall Auditorium. The screening is open to the public. Admission is free to NHTI students with valid ID; all others by donation (suggested $5).
For more information, call 271-6484, ext. 4101
If you like to stay up to date in the art world, you’ll want to check out the opening reception for “Trans Pose” at McGowan Fine Art.
The exhibit features the paintings of Catherine Graffam, a recent graduate from the New Hampshire Institute of Arts painting program. Her graduate thesis focused on imagery depicting her transition as a male to female transgender person – a theme which she carries through to her most recent work.
The opening reception is from 5 to 7 p.m., and the show runs through April 22.
For more information, go to mcgowanfineart.com or call 225-2515.
Saturday
In the market for some fleas? How about some antiques? Well, you can get them both (but hopefully not really fleas) at the flea market and antique fair at Everett Arena. You never know what you might find at a flea market, so it’s always worth a look.
This one goes from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is $3, free for children under 15. For more info, call 648-2727.
Get an early jump on Easter with the Kimball-Jenkins Estate’s 6th annual Eggstravaganza.
There will be face painting, pictures with the Easter bunny, bounce houses and an egg hunt.
It goes from 10 a.m. to noon, but make sure to get there early so you don’t miss the hunt, which starts at 10:15 sharp. It’s free!
Sunday
Happy Easter. It’s time to dive into that Easter basket and eat lots of candy. And if you have any extra, send it our way.
