City Briefly

City Manager Tom Aspell was so excited to usher in the new year, he decided to put the final two city memos for 2015 into one release on Dec. 23 and call it a year. This version was sent to us right before Christmas, so it’s like the gift that keeps on giving.

Paying the bills

Property tax time

Property owners are reminded that third quarter property tax payments were due on Jan. 2. (Editor’s Note: Original city memo said “property tax payments are due Jan. 2.”) Property tax bills containing the Jan. 2 and March 31 payment coupons were mailed to residents on Nov. 20. If you have not received or have lost your property tax bill, please contact the Tax Collector’s Office via email at collection@concordnh.gov or by phone at 225-8540 to request a duplicate copy.

Oh Christmas tree

Put it out with the trash

Concord residents who have curbside trash and recycling collection may place their Christmas trees at the curb for pick-up on their regularly scheduled collection day, from now through Friday, Jan. 15. All lights, ornaments, tinsel and other decorations must be removed from the tree before setting it at the curb, Aspell writes. So in other words, double and triple check your tree for any and all Christmas flair and make sure to take off the tree stand. Like your lights, ornaments and decorations, you can reuse that for next year’s tree.

Wreaths and artificial trees will not be collected. Residents may also bring trees to the Transfer Station for disposal through the month of January.

Bringin’ down the house

Bye, bye 10 Prince St.

Demolition of the former residential structure at 10 Prince St. was substantially completed recently. Work included removal of the 3,400 square-foot structure, including the foundation, asbestos and PCB contaminated materials; as well as approximately 125 tons of lead-contaminated soils, Aspell writes. We’re no experts, but that does not sound like a healthy living environment.

When the project is completed, the small driveway at the lot will be expanded for parking of city vehicles. The remainder of the property will be grassed.
