The great thing about birthdays is that no matter what other people say or want to do, it’s your day.
If you want to sleep till noon (assuming you don’t have a job or one that gives you your birthday off), then go for it. If you want to eat pizza for breakfast, lunch and dinner, you can do that too. Want chocolate cake with chocolate frosting? Then that’s what you’re going to have.
And if you want a themed birthday soiree, then your family and friends better get to work on the planning. Or they could just make a quick call over to Kimball-Jenkins.
In addition to being an art school, hosting weddings and private functions, the Kimby-Jenks is now getting involved in the business of putting on birthday parties. If you or your child is turning an age that fits into the criteria of teens or younger, then you can have your next celebration either in the mansion or if you’d like somewhere on the estate grounds. It all depends on what you’re looking for to celebrate another year closer to old age.
“Based upon what the child is interested in, the party will be curtailed to that,” said Rachel Young, who can now be considered the Kimball-Jenkins party planner.
The first party was held this past weekend, and Young is hoping there will be plenty more in the future. The whole idea came after being approached about hosting a 5-year-old’s party. The mom had seen the website for the fairy tea parties and wanted to know if birthday bashes were on the menu as well. So Young thought it would be a great way to attract more people to the estate and decided to put up a website to highlight just what the birthday parties can entail.
And while we encourage you to check it out for yourself, here’s a few highlights. You can choose between a two- or four-hour time slot and a whole bunch of themes. There’s options for Frozen, princesses, Hello Kitty and tea parties for the little ladies, while there’s Star Wars, Marvel Avengers, Minions and sports for the boys – but that’s not it. You can even have the party tailored to your liking for an additional fee.
“If it doesn’t list what they’re looking for, we’ll sit down and figure out what they want,” Young said.
There’s also the art option where one of the school’s art teachers will do a project with the party goers. Again, it all depends on what will make for the best birthday celebration.
The cost for the party includes the space and decorations, but the food is up to you.
“They can choose any caterer or cater their own food,” Young said.
And parties aren’t just limited to weekends – weekdays are also available.
