You are invited to join the Concord community by saying “Yes to Hope” on Sunday, Oct. 18.

You can help finish the fight against breast cancer by raising funds for and participating in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a celebration of survivorship – an occasion to express hope and our shared determination to make this breast cancer’s last century.

Our Making Strides event in Concord is one of 300 walks across the country. Last year more than 5,000 Concord community members raised $559,446 and for the seventh year in a row Concord became the highest fundraising event per capita in the country. We have a lot to be proud of and thanks to our fundraising successes we’ve seen more improvements in treatment and early detection, which leads to more and more women surviving breast cancer. New technological and research breakthroughs offer so much hope for the future and they would not be possible without the dollars raised by our generous walkers and sponsors. We are making a difference right here in our community.

Whether you are a survivor, team member, individual walker, or volunteer, we all share a deep and abiding commitment to finding a cure for breast cancer and all cancers. The sheer magnitude of the event – usually a beautiful autumn day – will bring you back year after year. There are a lot of emotions on the field and along the route as we all stand together with those who have been affected by the disease.

We invite you to join us to say yes to more walkers and teams, yes to more technology, yes to more research, yes to more dollars raised so that we can “Say Yes to Hope!” If you are looking to join a team, please join my team Say Yes To Hope!
