If Concord was a food, we’d definitely take a couple nibbles.
Sadly, it’s not so we’re forced to enjoy it many other ways typical of a city that’s not made out of gingerbread.
But the good news is that, as you probably well know, Concord is filled with some great places that serve some pretty tasty food. And Thursday, quite a few of them will fill the Grappone Conference Center for a night of, well, eating.
This is the 10th year of the Taste of Concord and with 35 restaurants from inside the city limits and just beyond participating, it’s only reasonable to imagine there will be lots of good eats to go around. Actually, you don’t have to imagine ’cause that will absolutely be the case.
There will be cooking demos that turn into samples and samples just for eating. But the star of this night is the top slider competition. Arnie’s Place will look to repeat as champion, busting out a smoked pulled chicken this year after grabbing first place with smoked sausage a year ago.
But looking at the list of entries, this will not be an easy decision. The Barley House will have an avocado BLT beef slider, The Draft is entering a pepperoni and meatball combo, the Red Blazer is doing a Thanksgiving edition and Washington St. Cafe is channeling its inner English fare with bangers and mash. Crust and Crumb and The Granite State Candy Shoppe are teaming up for an ice cream sandwich slider. And those are just the ones we could fit in before our mouths started to water too much.
In addition to all of the food that will make your tummy feel happy, there will be live music, raffles and a silent auction. The event runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at the door or at local establishments like the Wine’ing Butcher in Pembroke and Cimo’s South End Deli, 250 South St.
