On Oct. 13, 1899, Spanish-American War hero Admiral George Dewey’s train made a brief stop in Concord, where it was saluted with 17 railroad torpedoes (small explosives used as a warning for oncoming trains) as it approached and departed the station. Pretty cool stuff!
