Merrimack Valley senior Hunter Darling bench presses under the watchful eye of spotter Ryan Hoar at the Benchathon Darling ran March 16 to raise money to fight breast cancer. Darling had raised $838 by last Friday and expected the total to exceed $1,000 before all was said and done. The highest bench press total of the day was achieved by school guidance counselor Mark Ciarametaro, who reached 285 pounds, while Hoar had the highest student mark at 250. “I was really excited. Everyone who went really had a good time,” Darling said. “And we raised a lot of money. My goal was about $500, so to get over $1,000 is great.”
