Tax breaks available
Applications for the State of New Hampshire's Low and Moderate Income Homeowner's Property Tax Relief Program are available on the web at nh.gov/revenue, or may be obtained from the city's assessing office located in City Hall, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Property owners who owned and occupied their homes on April 1, 2011 may apply to the state for relief of a portion of the state education property tax, Aspell writes. There is no age requirement or asset limit for this program. A single person whose total household income was $20,000 or less in 2011 and married persons or heads of New Hampshire households with total household income of $40,000 or less may apply.
Forms and documentation should be mailed to the New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration, Document Processing Division, P.O. Box 299, Concord, NH 03302-0299 and must be postmarked no later than June 30. Applicants will need a copy of their January or March 2012 tax bill and a copy of their 2011 federal tax return. If the property is in a trust, a copy of the entire trust document must be submitted. For more information, call the New Hampshire Department of Revenue at 230-5000.

Delays are expected
The drainage construction continues at the intersection of Manchester Street, Airport Road, and Integra Drive, Aspell writes. National Grid also continues its work to connect to the new gas main. Fairpoint Communications has completed its utility relocations in front of Merrimack County Savings Bank. Travel lanes approaching the intersection in both directions will be restricted to one lane at times and delays are expected. Once the drainage and utility work is complete, paving and striping will follow after Memorial Day.
