Most of us probably think of Anakin Skywalker as the brash young Padawan learning how to use the force under the tutelage of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Others probably think of him in his later years as the evil overlord Darth Vader. But did you know he has a third incarnation as a world traveler? It's true – and he's based right here in Concord!
Seems that a pint-sized Anakin figurine has been making its way around Concord – and around the world – with the help of Melissa Sewade. Sewade has been photographing Anakin at different locations for her Facebook page, “Adventures of Anakin.” Since his humble beginnings posing on top of a hotel room ice bucket, Anakin has traveled to Hawaii, participated in several Insider scavenger hunts and even rubbed elbows with Gov. John Lynch! His craziest adventure may have been his descent into an active volcano, from which he surprisingly escaped unscathed – though probably not without flashbacks to the events of Revenge of the Sith.
Some critics may deride the very presence of Anakin, claiming that the three prequel movies which he appears in are travesties and that knowing that Anakin becomes Darth Vader ruins the entire “Luke, I am your father” reveal – but Sewade isn't sweating it. Believe it or not, she's no Star Wars superfan.
“My friends make fun of me because I've only seen each movie one time,” Sewade said, “but they think that (the Anakin figurine) is pretty cool.”
Sewade plans to tag along with her purse-dwelling Jedi companion on many more adventures. Check out “Adventures of Anakin” on Facebook and send Sewade some suggestions of where Anakin should travel next! Just don't suggest Alderaan.
