Each week, City Manager Tom Aspell injects human growth hormone into a pumpkin in his yard in hopes it will grow large enough to carve the city memo into. Instead it just turns into Alex Rodriguez, so Aspell invites him in to watch the World Series and they write the city memo together.
Dig this
Parking, interrupted
This week, work crews will begin pavement cutting and digging in the center of North Main Street, from School Street to Capital Street, Aspell writes. For the record, dancing in the center of main street > digging in the center of main street. This deep utility work, which starts Oct. 21, will continue through the week and intermittently throughout the fall.
During this work, parking will be unavailable on the east side of North Main Street, from School to Capital Street; and, at times, parking will be unavailable on the west side of North Main Street, from School to Park Street. If you need to reach parking during these times, send a text message.
Removing parking is being done in the best interest of public safety and to keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible. This work will not affect Halloween Howl on Oct. 24, especially if you dress as a parking space.
Work in Eagle Square will carry on, as construction crews continue removing brick and laying new pavers. Pedestrian traffic and most business entrances will be maintained.
Vote for us!
We’re not vote-for-able
Absentee ballots for the Nov. 4 State General Election are now available from the city clerk’s office, Aspell writes. Absentee Chinese food orders continue to not be a thing. Residents who are unable to vote at the polls on Election Day, due to absence from town or physical disability, may request an absentee ballot. Unlike gym class, you do not need a doctor’s note, though. You must be registered to vote prior to casting an absentee ballot. For more information, contact the city clerk’s office at 225-8500 or cityclerk@concordnh.gov.
