The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center kicked off its 2014 Homeschool Series on the Solar System on Oct. 9 with a workshop on the sun.
Subsequent workshops will be held on the second Thursday of each month, from 1:30 to 3 p.m., through June 2015, and will move out from the sun to the farthest reaches of our solar system, covering planets, moons, asteroids, comets, the Kuiper Belt and the Oort Cloud.
Cost is $15 per student, $10 for additional children from the same family, free for one parent educator per student. Optional planetarium shows following each workshop are $5 per person.
Level 1 sessions are geared toward elementary-age students and Level 2 sessions are geared toward middle schoolers,
