The Himalayan Cat Fanciers’ show returns to the Grappone Conference Center Grand Ballroom this weekend and yes, there will be lots of cute and cuddly kitties to look at. Just don’t touch, unless you ask their cat guardian nicely.
The Valentine’s Day themed show will be held Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will include four rings for judging each day. There will be up to 70 cats competing in a variety of categories.
“They can make it a whole day event,” said show secretary and judge Vicky Merrill. “There’s four different rings so people can bounce around.”
There also will be a Spectator Choice Award, where you can vote for your favorite feline, but you must purchase tokens for a whopping 25 cents each to help Fluffy, Max or Kitten pull off the win.
“It’s a fundraiser for the shelters and we get to have a little bit of fun,” Merrill said.
Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $3 for children. Children younger than 3 are free. There’s also a coupon in both the Concord Monitor and on page 29 of this Insider for $1 off admission.
How can you beat a day or two of looking at cats? You can’t.
