Each week, City Manager Tom Aspell patiently hunts down all the ingredients for a signature city memo and whips it up right there at his desk. Turns out all it takes is some words! Here are said words.
Adopt-a-something
Wanna own some dirt?
For those civic-minded citizens who are looking to help improve the appearance of our city, there is a program in place where you can provide labor and minimal supplies to help keep the city looking great, Aspell writes. Wait, are we all gonna be plastic surgeons??!!
The Adopt-a-Spot program is set up to encourage citizens to adopt roadside areas, islands and other small spots that need spring, summer and fall care. (Is this where we cue the commercial about the price of a cup of coffee a day?) The Parks & Recreation Department has several “orphaned” areas in need of adoption. If interested, please call 225-8690 and speak with Grounds Superintendent Chris Jacques. The location you adopt will have a sign placed onsite recognizing your efforts.
Clean up, aisle your yard
Leaves getting gone
Spring leaf collection began April 27 and continues through June 5, Aspell writes. Concord residents with curbside trash and recycling collection may place an unlimited amount of leaves and grass clippings curbside by 7 a.m. on their collection day for disposal. Take advantage of this unlimited offer!
Leaves and grass clippings must be placed in biodegradable yard waste bags or labeled rigid containers. Squishy containers labeled as rigid containers won’t fool anyone, for what it’s worth. At least not for long.
Residents who do not have curbside trash and recycling collection, or who wish to dispose of leaves on their own, may bring their leaves to Earth Materials Recycling Center located at 10 Intervale Road.
