Each week, City Manager Tom Aspell locks himself in his office and weeps openly while penning a loving farewell letter to Keith. The tears end up making all the ink run, though, so he just sends him a city memo instead. Keith was nice enough to reprint it here.

Bridge stuff happening
Last week’s construction activities at the Sewalls Falls Bridge included clearing of land within the project limits and the installation of erosion control measures such as silt fence and sedimentation logs, Aspell writes. Sedimentation logs were chosen over our proposal of Lincoln Logs.
Activities planned for this week include more clearing of land, installation of temporary sewer tanks and construction of an access road to the west of the existing bridge’s land spans in preparation for building a river access trestle.
Pedestrian and bike access through the work area is prohibited, but then again why would you want to walk through a bridge construction zone? Trail access to and from the Sewalls Falls Road Multi-use Recreational Facility will not be impacted.
Sidewalking the walk
Guess what? Construction
Throughout this week, crews will continue to work aggressively in the State House Plaza area, Aspell writes. Anger management coaches will be on hand to assure that aggression is channeled appropriately.
After grading work yesterday and today, crews will begin pouring the concrete sidewalks and some fresh brewed iced tea, beginning at Centre Street and The Prescription Center, and working south to Capitol Street by the end of the week. Additional sidewalk work will continue, as crews plan to continue fine grading and brick zone preparation to just south of the Capital Plaza. Crews also plan to work on the sidewalk in front of Northway Bank.
