New hours at Discovery Center starting this week

Beginning Sept. 1, the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center will be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., plus the first Friday of every month from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Special September events include: a Super Stellar Friday Teen night at 7 p.m. and public talk at 8:15 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4 by Science Educator Dave McDonald on the mysterious dwarf planet Pluto; a new exhibit opening on Saturday, Sept. 12, “Riding the Waves of History”; a new exhibit station on the Sun to complement the planetarium show “Sunstruck!” on Saturday, Sept. 19; and a celebration of National Museum Day on Saturday, Sept. 26.

The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center features 21st century interactive exhibits on aviation, astronomy, Earth and space sciences, a state-of-the-art planetarium and a variety of science, technology, and engineering and mathematics programs.
