It’s been more than 10 years since Jareb (aka Master) Foosh has seen his face.
But come Dec. 1 that will all change. Through Nov. 30 raffle tickets will be sold for the chance to shave Foosh’s big, bushy beard that closely resembles that of Red Sox first baseman Mike Napoli, and it’s all for a good cause. The tickets are $10 apiece or three for $20, and all the money raised will go to St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
“It gives people the ability to mess with me a little bit,” said Foosh, who had friends involved with the hospital. “I wanted to be able to raise some money and this is the best way I could think to do it.”
The drawing will take place at Buzz Ink Tattoo & Barber Shop on Manchester Street at 2 p.m. on Dec. 1 and the winner must be present to win the grand (and only) prize. With the help of Buzz Ink’s staff, the raffle winner will give Foosh – the piercing manager at Buzz Ink – a new look with a hot shave and the ability to see the tattoo on his neck that has not been visible in quite some time.
“I’ve had a beard for at least the last 15 years. It’s one of those things that I’m pretty well known for,” said Foosh.
Raffle tickets are available at Buzz Ink, Spank Alley Board & Skate Shop and Double Midnight Comics, both located on Main Street. Although Foosh admits he is a little terrified of the moment when his beard comes off, he knows the money raised will help.
“The whole point of it is to help people,” said Foosh.
