Monitor reporter Laura McCrystal is off to the city of brotherly love for a sweet (and given the prevelance of cheesesteaks, salty) new gig, which means she is no longer on the City Hall beat. But she’s left the assignment in good hands, those being the hands of Megan Doyle, who like McCrystal is a Notre Dame alum. Take a minute and meet your new source for all the downtown happenings.
What’s your favorite news story you’ve ever written?
I don’t have a favorite, but I recently wrote about the New Hampshire National Guard 237th Military Police Company when they came home from a deployment overseas in Iraq. Watching those men and women reunite with their families is something I’ll never forget, and I loved writing about a dad coming home to meet his son for the first time. (Another highlight: Once, I met Bill Nye for a story.)
How do you unwind after a hard day at the office?
At the end of a long day, I love to go for a run. (Or eat ice cream. Depends on the day.)
What’s one thing Concord doesn’t have that it should?
A Five Guys. But one is set to open soon on Fort Eddy Road, and I’m counting down to their french fries.
What is your favorite kind of sandwich?
Grilled cheese.
True or false: You are actually a descendant of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and we’re all just characters in a mind-blowing Sherlock Holmes remake you’re creating?
That’s a mystery you’ll just have to figure out on your own.
Twitter is obviously an important part of the job. In 140 characters or less, tell us what you’re most looking forward to as city hall reporter:
Hearing about great story ideas from readers in Concord. My email is mdoyle@cmonitor.com. #shameless.
As one of several Notre Dame alums to work at the Monitor recently, answer us this: How many times have you seen Rudy, and how many pictures of Sean Astin do you have pasted on your walls?
I don’t own any Sean Astin posters, but I know that movie by heart.
Do you love or fear the Insider?
I love the Insider (even though you made me answer all these questions)!
