So here is the skinny . . . the Crisis Center of Central New Hampshire’s first WAM/Walk A Mile In Her Shoes Event is slated to have more than 340 heels walking down Main Street and back Oct. 1 to let everyone know that we in Merrimack County will not tolerate domestic and sexual violence anytime, anywhere.
Okay, that’s the serious message, now for the fun part: Most of these high-heeled community activists are men. Proof is in the pictures. So . . . do you think they can do it? Well come on down and see. Here is the run down of all you need to know!
Event Emcees: None other than 105.5 JYY’s Nazzy and AJ . . . how awesome is that?
What the heck is this all about? Raising awareness of domestic and sexual violence and dough for the Crisis Center of Central New Hampshire’s Merrimack County youth prevention and awareness programs.
Registration: You can still register, right up to the start of the event Oct. 1. Go to firstgiving.com/crisiscenterofcentralnh/WAM, Last minute registration is $35 per person, and there is no guarantee of a T-shirt. You can register online until noon on Sept. 30. You can also register last minute the day of the event, Oct. 1, starting at 4:45 p.m. Don’t want to walk? Okay, how about making a donation? You can do that at the same web address. Awesome!
Location: Concord’s State House Archway
Sign In: Everyone who has preregistered must sign in. Sign in starts at 4:45 p.m. Waivers are required, especially from the men who are decked out in their first ever heels! OMG, can you imagine what might happen? Do we trust these guys – you bet we do!
Program: Speakers will kick off the “walk” at 5:30 p.m.
Start: 5:45 p.m. The walk will start at the archway, go to Pleasant Street and come back to the archway – it is almost a mile. You think those guys can make it? Well come see.
Awards and prizes: 6:30 p.m. Can’t miss this part – Come find out who recruited the largest team, who had the best shoes and more.
Tip: Please do not park close to or on Main Street. Main Street from Centre to Pleasant will be closed from 4 to 7 p.m. Do your best to park away from the event site and/or in city garages.
