Each week, many Concordians sit down to a delicious pancake breakfast. As they cut into the fluffy flapjacks, they see that each one has an image of City Manager Tom Aspell emblazoned on it. No wonder they are selling like hotcakes! And here's the best part: the syrup drippings spell out the city memo in maple Braille.
sky remains blue
And work continues
This week on the Route 3/North State Street corridor, continued replacement of aging storm sewer infrastructure will take place from Brook Street to Rumford Street, Aspell writes. The aging infrastructure will be moving to a pleasant 55-and-over community, where bridge is scheduled every day at 3 p.m.
Road box excavation will be taking place from Call Street to Rumford Street as the drainage is completed.
Traffic delays are still to be expected in these areas, as one-lane conditions will persist. For an example of what the traffic delays will feel like, please bang your face into your desk right now.
The city appreciates all who have chosen to use the southbound Hutchins Street detour, Aspell writes, as the reduction in traffic volume helps cycle vehicles through the larger work zone much quicker. The masonry subcontractor has begun work in the Phase II / III section (thus making it a trilogy, and we all know the third installment of a trilogy is always the worst … see The Godfather) of North State Street, from Hutchins Street to Abbottville Road and Knight Street. With the completion of the masonry work, the final pavement overlay should be happening in early October. And by that we hope they mean October 2012.
freshening up
Skate house updated
Thanks to the hard work of a group of senior students from Parker Academy, the White Park Skate House has a fresh look, Aspell writes. Does that mean it's wearing skinny jeans and a graphic T?
Students spent the last two weeks repainting the interior of the skate house. The project was made possible by the financial contribution of Weston Solutions last winter, and, of course, by the presence of humans to paint it.
