Each week, we find City Manager Tom Aspell walking circles around City Hall. Why is Tom pacing back and forth like a caged lion? He’s just so anxious to deliver us the city memo that he just can’t help himself. Read on to see what all the fuss is about.
Fresh start
Trunk o’ goodies
The Human Services Department received a generous donation of hygiene items from the Concord Country Club Women’s Golf Association, Aspell writes. Kathi Jordan of the association arrived with her trunk totally filled with bags of soap, razors, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, powder and many other personal care items. If there’d been a sink in there, she could have started a mobile salon!
The department has been the fortunate recipient of this donation in prior years and is, once again, extremely grateful, Aspell writes. Many of the people the department serves cannot afford to purchase these items and the EBT card for food stamps does not allow for the purchase of non-food items.
Thanks to Jordan and the Concord Country Club Women’s Golf Association, the department will be able to help many of its community members who struggle to afford these most basic items.
Commute still crappy
Route 3 work ongoing
Despite the inclement weather, the Route 3/North State Street reconstruction project presses on, Aspell writes.
On and on and on and on and on and on and on, we write.
The contractor placed the final pavement overlay on the Phase II/III section Oct. 8, from Hutchins Street to Abbottville Road. Work on the Phase IV section will include fine grading of the newly placed gravels and base paving Oct. 11. Phase V will require more fuel for the flux capacitor.
As with all paving operations, stay tuned to the on-site message boards for real time updates to the schedule. Couches and beer fridges will be provided to make the staying-tuned more comfortable. One-lane traffic persions will continue in both areas and the public is encouraged to seek alternate routes.
