Sen. Sylvia Larsen stopped by Girls Inc. last Tuesday afternoon, and the girls were armed with the kind of hard-hitting questions that you don’t usually encounter on the campaign trail.
Larsen was asked what time she wakes up (7 a.m., followed by a 2-mile walk) and why the school day couldn’t be two hours long.
One girl correctly answered a question regarding Larsen’s salary ($100), while another admitted that when she went to the State House, she sat in Larsen’s chair.
Larsen also revealed that she majored in biological anthropology in college, and only got into politics when she took a job in environmental research for a state senator.
She encouraged the girls to chase their dreams and not be deterred by obstacles.
“Life is not always a straight line,” she said. “Sometimes, it wiggles.”
