Midsummer Night Magic, an event that paraded into downtown Concord for the first time last year, will return June 21 at 5 p.m.
The magic will take over the courtyards and side streets of downtown Concord with live performances, multicultural musings, artistic acts, an outdoor movie and a people’s parade. There is no cost for admission to the event, but we encourage patronage to the downtown restaurants and merchants, many of whom will be staying open late and offering discounts and specials.
Highlights include the Creative Concord Caravan, a unique parade that includes a Kazoo-phony orchestrated by the Concord Community Music School, the No Monkey Business “Who Let The Dogs Out” Costumed Dog Posse and other surprises! Community members are invited to dress up in creative costumes and participate in the caravan that leaves the State House around 5:45 p.m. and ends in Bicentennial Square.
In Bicentennial Square, True Brew Barista will be presenting more amusement with the Tribal Zoe tribe of belly dancers, Artsfest hula hoopers, beer tasting and a photo booth!
Red River Theatres will entertain Eagle Square with an outdoor showing of the movie Back to the Future. Come dressed in your best ’80s garb and win a prize in the costume contest, judged by local radio station 105.5 JYY. Admission is free. The film starts at dusk.
