Once in a Lifetime Trips
Chris Santella
2009, 224 pages
Nonfiction

Winter is officially here, a season when many of us spend a lot more time indoors. I’d like to suggest that it’s a great time to be an armchair traveler.

The new book, “Once in a Lifetime Trips: The World’s 50 Most Extraordinary and Memorable Travel Experiences,” would be a good place to start. Chris Santella breaks the book down by types of places to visit – the ocean, an island, the jungle, the mountains and desert, the country, the city and the sky. Will most of us be able to make any of these trips? Probably not, but it sure can be fun to dream.

We have many other books and DVDs about traveling to different parts of the world, such as “Scenic Walks of the World,”

“A Taste for Adventure,” “Journeys of a Lifetime: 500 of the World’s Greatest Trips,” “Rowing to Alaska” and “A House Somewhere: Tales of a Life Abroad.” Stop at the library and see what you can find to while away the long winter evenings. We’d love to see you!
