Aw shucks, Tom. You shouldn’t have.
That’s what the residents of Penacook Village will be saying when they see the new tax maps of their neighborhood. According to City Manager Tom Aspell’s weekly memo, the maps will help guide future property tax assessments. That’s why it’s important for property owners to check the maps for errors. The maps will be on display at the Penacook Community Center on March 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5:30 to 8 p.m. and on March 20 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Residents can also log on to concordnh.gov and click the link that says “Penacook Village Preliminary Map.”
Stimulus dollars on the table?
Concord is hoping to cash in on federal stimulus money to make city buildings more energy efficient. Aspell says that the city is eligible for almost $200,000. Here’s how the city hopes to spend the dough:
– Replacing 158 pedestrian traffic signals with energy-efficient bulbs.
– Installing anti-idling controllers on five city vehicles.
– Installing solar hot water systems on the roofs of four fire stations and the police station.
– Buying hybrid conversion kits for two trucks used for parking enforcement and water meter reading.
Bye bye, winter
Be sure to check the signs at the main entrance to White Park before lacing up your skates. The warm weather had curtailed the winter skating season. The skate house was closed last weekend but might reopen later this month. While we’re on the subject of the winter that wasn’t, Aspell also warns that parts of the cross-country ski trails at Beaver Meadow Golf Course are unskiable.
