Domestic disturbance
On April 17 about 10 p.m., the Concord police were called to 119 Old Turnpike Road for a report of an assault. When Officer Brian Cook arrived on scene, he found Kevin Tiede, 30, of Barnstead standing outside the house.
Cook said he asked Tiede what was going on. Tiede replied that he was waiting for a ride. Tiede had slurred speech, was swaying back and forth, and reeked of alcohol, Cook wrote in his report.
As the two spoke outside the house, Tiede pulled cigarettes out of his pocket, which Cook said he told him several times not to light, as they could be used as a weapon.
Cook continued to question Tiede while waiting for another officer to arrive. At one point, “he pulled out his cigarette box and put a cigarette in his mouth. I again told him not to light the cigarette. Tiede took out his lighter and lit the cigarette,” Cook wrote. “I took a step forward and was going to put Tiede in handcuffs because he was not being compliant. He turned his back to me and I escorted him to the ground and handcuffed him. I removed the cigarette from his mouth.”
Cook and another officer went inside the house and spoke to the homeowner, who told them Tiede's girlfriend called him earlier that night and asked to him to pick her up from Makris Lobster Pool. The two went back to the house and Tiede followed, where the homeowner told him to leave, the report said.
When the homeowner came back inside, he realized Tiede was in the house and in a bedroom with his girlfriend, according to Cook's report. The man said Tiede refused to leave and was finally pushed outside by the homeowner.
When the police spoke to the girlfriend, she told them she and Tiede had been arguing lately and that she didn't want to go home. She said Tiede followed her to the bar and started a fight, so she called her friend to pick her up.
When they got back to the friend's house, she told police she went into a bedroom to lie down. When Tiede showed up, she hid under the covers, the report said.
“Tiede jumped on top of her and began punching her in the back of the head with what felt like a closed fist,” Cook wrote. “She said Tiede also bit her in the left hand.
“She showed me her left hand and I was able to see what appeared to be teeth marks on her hand between her thumb and index finger,” the report continued. “There was only one small mark that appeared to have punctured the skin.”
The woman told the police she and Tiede have two small children together, and that they'd been together for eight years.
Tiede was charged with one count each of simple assault and criminal trespass. He was released on $2,000 cash bail and is due in Concord District Court on May 18.
Buzz kill
Officer Almedin Dzelic was dispatched to 17 Union St. about 5 p.m. on April 16 after a neighbor called to report hearing yelling and glass breaking from the home.
When Dzelic arrived, he noticed that a small window next to the door was broken and the lights inside the house were on, the police report said.
Dzelic knocked on the door and identified himself, he said, and saw a person move across the hallway at the top of the stairs. The upstairs light went out. He again called out, but no one answered.
“With no one answering the door and someone hiding upstairs I became concerned that this may have been a domestic disturbance. While looking in the window I could see that the residence looked as if there had been some type of disturbance because of the furniture that had been tossed around, he wrote.
Once inside, Dzelic told whoever was upstairs to come down. Kyle Deegan, 19, of Rochester and an unnamed female emerged.
Deegan had bloodshot eyes, and slurred his speech and was unsteady on his feet, wrote Dzelic, who said he spotted a bottle of spiced rum on a nearby countertop. Deegan told Dzelic he hadn't been drinking but refused to take a Breathalyzer test, the report said.
“Deegan was transported to the Concord police station for booking,” the report said. “During the booking process, Deegan exhibited behavior of an intoxicated person by making faces during photos, and at one point he became sick and vomited.”
Deegan was charged with unlawful possession of alcohol and released on $500 personal recognizance bail. He is due in Concord District Court on May 17.
