Slow on North State
City Manager Tom Aspell, without your weekly memo where would we get all our traffic news?
This week Tom writes: “With the completion of the new storm sewer trunk line the contractor will focus on installation of new catch basins and replacement of deficient sanitary sewer services in the section of North State Street between Knight and Lake Streets.”
Storm sewer trunk line? New catch basins? What does this all mean, Tom?!?
“Traffic flow will be restricted to one lane during hours of operation,” Tom adds. “The public is advised to expect delays and seek alternate routes whenever possible.”
Oh. We see.
. . . and Loudon Road
This weekend, the state Department of Transportation will pick up where it left off a few weeks ago and continue construction on the Interstate 93 bridge over Loudon Road.
Weather permitting, the area directly under the I-93 overpass of Loudon Road will be closed to all traffic from 7 p.m. Friday through 7 a.m. on Monday, May 10. Tom advises travelers to avoid the northbound on-ramp to I-93 and the southbound on-off ramps to I-93.
Detour signs will be deployed while the work takes place.
The city will provide a shuttle service from 7 a.m. to noon over the weekend to shuttle pedestrians from Main Street to Fort Eddy Road.
Good news for CATCH
“Last week, the City was informed that its $450,000 community development block grant to support CATCH’s Theatre Project was funded by the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority,” Tom writes with excitement. “The funds will be used to help CATCH acquire its portion of the Sanel Block site from Duprey Acquisitions.”
The Theatre Street project is estimated to cost around $9 million.
Construction is set to begin later this fall.
