Right behind the Barley House and Main Street, the Concord Cooperative Market, 24 S. Main St., took an honorable third place spot in the category “Best Place to Meet People.”
I’ll be honest. I wasn’t entirely sure what that meant.
Do you like the market because it provides a locale to catch up over coffee? Did you nominate it because you’re forever seeing people you know by the produce? Or do you go to the co-op in the hopes of finding someone new? Maybe a few of you have even found your life partners while perusing the soy products. You know the story – you reached for the Silk at the same exact time, locked eyes and the rest was history.
In the need of new friends and wanting to catch up with some old ones, I stopped by Una Notte in Sicilia (A Night in Sicily) on May 6. This event, put on by the co-op, featured Southern Italian hors d’oeuvres and a sampling of Mediterranean wines, all for $10.
Although the only person I bumped into was someone I already knew (Insider editor Amy Augustine), I still had a lovely evening. I met a few new faces, sipped on wine and chowed down on grape leaves, Sicilian tapenade and more than my fair share of assorted cheeses.
The tasty food is another reason why you like it there: The co-op’s Celery Stick Café took a third place win in the “Best Vegetarian Fare” category.
Meet me by the quinoa in 10.
