And to think he was able to accomplish all that with his slugabed dancing partner who is totally dead to us now.

The Recreation Department is accepting new and used skate donations to help increase the number of rentals available. If you have used skates to donate, Aspell writes, please drop them off at the Recreation Office, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Daniel Garcia was sworn in as the city's newest police officer on Friday, Jan. 28. Officer Garcia comes to the city from the Anchorage, Alaska, Police Department, where he has worked for the last three years. Prior to that, Aspell writes, Garcia worked as a prosecutor for the Anchorage District Attorney's Office.

Water party time
The Water Utility Division within the General Services Department was named the 2010 Utility of the Year in the medium-size systems' category by the New England Water Works Association. Aspell writes that the award recognizes a utility for making significant improvements to its water system and for providing outstanding customer service, staff training and/or operations to further protect the public health of the consumers it serves. So gargle with confidence, Concordians. You've got top-notch water flowing through your pipes.

On Jan. 27, the Beaver Meadow Golf Course hosted a Red Cross Blood Drive. The Red Cross declared the event a success, collecting 46 pints of blood to boost its supply. Beaver Meadow staff and the Red Cross wish to extend a hardy thank you to all who participated, Aspell writes.

Red Sox road trips
Tickets for two Red Sox bus trips will go on sale at the Recreation Department on Feb. 8, Aspell writes. Trip dates are April 29 versus Seattle, and June 5 versus Oakland. A limited number of tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis. There is a limit of eight tickets per family. For more information, visit concordnh.gov/recreation or call 225-8690.
