Due to overwhelming success, the recreation department has increased the number of classes for its new spring basketball season, Aspell writes. The season will begin in mid-March and will end in mid-April, just in time for spring sports to begin.

Summer camps
The recreation department's long awaited Summer Camp Guide will be delivered to local schools this week. However, Aspell writes, all information is currently available on the department's website at concordnh.gov/recreation. Last summer, there were over 1,400 participants involved in the Department's summer camps. Camps offered include: tennis, soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, Art, dance, cheerleading, mad science, track and field, horseback riding, baseball, softball, farming, and many more; as well as three traditional “all day” camps.

Since last fall, the recreation department has updated its web site to include a new splash page for online registration and now also maintains a Facebook page. With these additions and severalnew programs, Aspell writes, the department has seen a huge increase in the number of “hits” on its web page. Between July 1, 2010, and Feb. 28, 2011, the recreation Department web page received 210,809 hits, compared to 136,678 during all of the last fiscal year.

Let's talk corridors
On March 10 at 6:30 p.m., the Engineering Services Division will host a public meeting in City Council Chambers regarding Phase 4a of the Route 3 Corridor Improvement Project (CIP #35). Staff will review the final design and discuss the construction schedule. This phase of the project includes North State Street, from Palm Street to Call Street. Residents and commuters are encouraged to attend, Aspell writes.

Tom wants to take you to the movies on March 12 at 2 p.m. at the Library Auditorium.
An American boxer (John Wayne) returns home to Ireland and falls in love with Mary Kate Danaher (Maureen O'Hara). This classic film from 1952 runs for 153 minutes. If you haven't guessed the title, call 225-8670. Admission is free and open to all.
