A few things the kiddies can do during February vacation

Feb. 26: Judy Pancoast, New Hampshire musician, presents a program sure to set feet to tappin’ in the auditorium at 2 p.m. Tickets are free and are available starting Feb. 17 (while supplies last).

Kids 5- to 14-years-old can learn to swim during Splash Week, which takes place Feb. 23 to Feb. 26. Four 30 minute classes are held for non-swimmers and beginners. It is $15 for all four classes, and kids must be signed up for all four days. Classes are held at 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 2:45 p.m., 3:15 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. Preregistration required.

A February vacation camp is held 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., during vacation week. Open to all children in grades kindergarten through fifth. The cost for YMCA members is $147 for the full camp or $38 daily. For program members the cost is $169 for the full camp or $52 daily.
Each day will have a theme with such highlights as crafts, rock wall climbing, swimming and field trips. The child must bring a lunch, bathing suit and towel, sneakers for gym activities and appropriate outdoor clothing.

Feb. 23: Smitty’s movie and pizza day. No need to bring lunch – start the week off right.
Feb. 24: Winter Wonderland day. Come tubing with us at Pat’s Peak.
Feb. 25: Hawaiian day.
Feb. 26: PJ day. Wear your pj’s. No slippers, please.
Feb. 27: Pizza day.

The Community Players of Concord Children’s Theatre Project is pleased to offer our 13th annual winter vacation theatre camp, “Seussical Junior,” to be held at the players’ studio.
It’s an opportunity for young actors ages 8-14 to spend a week learning about musical theater performance by doing it! We will rehearse the show all week and present it Friday evening for family and friends!

The camp schedule will run as follows:

Sunday, Feb. 22: 1-4 p.m. – Read/sing through of show; auditions for those interested in specific roles. All registered campers will be in the show! No one has to audition if you don't want to! You will get a practice CD before Feb. 22.

Monday, Feb. 23. to Thursday, Feb. 26: 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. – Campers should bring lunch, snacks, water, dance shoes every day.

Friday, Feb. 27: 8:30 a.m. – Show time at 6 p.m. We will meet at a local theater for the day to prepare for the show (location TBA).

The camp fee is $160 for members, $175 for nonmembers and includes a T-shirt and a pizza party Friday afternoon. To register, download the form on the Community Player’s website. (Though the deadline has passed, registrations are still being accepted as space is available.)

“February Fun Camp” is held at the McLane Center. There will be activities for children pre-K to sixth grade, including snowshoeing, live animals, survival skills, campfires and games in the snow.

Pre-K camp is held Feb. 23-27 from 9 a.m.-noon. Camp for K-sixth grade is held Feb. 23-27, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Children should bring lunch, two snacks and plenty of warm clothing. Extended care is available from 4:30 to 5 p.m. for an additional fee.

The camp fee for the Pre-K program is $18 a day for members or $24 nonmembers. For the full week, the fee is $65 members, $95 nonmembers.

The camp fee for the K-sixth grade program is $40 a day for members, $50 nonmembers. For the full week, the fee is $175 members, $225 nonmembers.

Extended care (per halfhour of supervised playtime) is $8 per day for members, $10 nonmembers. For the week, the fee is $32 members, $40 nonmembers.

CCTV’s Video Camp: Campers will learn how to operate video equipment in the studio and in the field. Afterwards, they will take part in the editing process. This is hands-on training and campers will actually create a program that will air on CCTV Channel 22.
The camp is held Feb. 23-27 at at the Concord Community TV Studio, entrance “D” at Concord High School from 12:30-5:30 p.m. and is for ages 10-14. The cost is $99 residents, $119 nonresidents.

Hooray for Hollywood will introduce dancers to forms of dance found on the big screen. Children will receive technical instruction in ballet, tap and jazz while learning choreography from the best on-screen dancers. The camp will be held Feb. 23-27 at the Green Street Community Center from 9 a.m.-noon and is for grades 1-3. The cost is $100 residents, $120 nonresidents.

KidzArt Camp: Time will be spent drawing and creating projects that celebrate winter through the use of various media. The camp will be held Feb. 23-27 at the Green Street Community Center from 9 a.m.-noon and is for grades 1-5. The cost is $113 residents, $133 nonresidents.

Storybook Dance Camp: Designed for both boys and girls and teaches the fundamentals of ballet, tap and jazz through creative movement. Dancers will use their imagination and the themes from several children's stories to express themselves through movement and dance. The camp will be held Feb. 23-27 at the Green Street Community Center from 9 a.m.-noon and is for ages 3-5. The cost is $100 for residents, $120 nonresidents.

Horseback camp: For boys and girls ages 8-12 years old. Instruction is provided at the Gelinas Farm in Pembroke. Van transportation is provided each day from White Park. Riding helmets are provided. Waivers must be signed by a parent/guardian before the start of camp and are available online and at the White Park Office. The camp will be held Feb. 23-27 from 8 a.m.-noon. The cost is $220 residents, $240 nonresidents.

“Our Place in Space,” for ages 4-8, is at 11 a.m; “Dawn of the Space Age,” for ages 8 and up, is at noon; “Oasis in Space,” for ages 8 and up, is at 1 p.m.; “Tonight's Sky,” for ages 6 and up, is at 2 p.m.; “Ice Worlds,” for ages 8 and up, is at 3 p.m.; and “Black Holes,” for ages 8 and up, is at 4 p.m.

Tickets are $8, $5 ages 12 and under, $7 students.
